Overview

Financial Aid for Study Abroad Programs

Your financial aid for study abroad programs will be based on your financial aid eligibility for the current school year.

If you are participating in an approved Washington College program, you may use Washington College funds, federal funds, and state funds to help pay your expenses.

All degree-seeking international (F-1 visa) students must be studying in a major that requires an International experience to be eligible to keep their financial aid grants while studying abroad.

If you elect to participate in a non-approved study abroad program, you are required to withdraw from Washington College for the duration of the program. No aid will be processed or available for use toward your expenses. Your eligibility for financial aid will be reassessed upon your return to Washington College.

Deadline to apply for Study Abroad is October 5 for spring programs and March 5 for fall programs.

The Office of International Programs was established to provide high quality, well-managed international programs. Regardless of a student's discipline, an international learning experience is a great way to expand their world perspective.

The college is committed to the philosophy that one's education is enriched by spending time in a foreign country as a participant in one of our international programs. Study abroad has far-reaching benefits for students of all majors as it opens their minds to political, social, cultural, and economic traditions different from their own.

The Office of International Programs encourages students to explore our study abroad opportunities and strives to facilitate the study abroad process. Any student considering a study abroad program should consult with Kelly Keer, Director of International Programs.
